The Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) is a voluntary non-profit association that represents operators of retirement residences in Ontario.
ORCA’s vision is to lead the way for better retirement living.
By providing leadership in shaping public policy, enhancing public confidence and educating and supporting our members, a high quality, viable retirement communities sector flourishes in Ontario.
Since 1977, ORCA has set the standard for operational excellence through its longstanding accreditation program, which is now under review, and its leadership in offering quality retirement living education to our members. ORCA represents more than 84 percent of the retirement home sector in Ontario with members (493) providing accommodations and services to nearly 43,000 seniors. ORCA’s membership also includes 264 commercial members who provide products and valuable services to retirement communities throughout the province.
ORCA provides leadership in areas of education and training and supports members to meet provincial regulations, adopt best practices and promote quality and excellence in all areas of operation. ORCA is committed to providing Ontario retirement homes with the tools necessary for compliance with the Retirement Homes Act now phasing in through to 2014, and to collaborating with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) throughout the regulation implementation and beyond.
ORCA also strongly promotes and advocates on behalf of its members with government and other stakeholders and positions the sector for growth and success as an invaluable service to today’s growing senior population.
