Job description

This position is accountable for performing personal and health care related services to residents which include personal care and nursing procedures and treatments within the scope of Licensed Practical Nurse training and certification. Personal and health care related practices will be provided in accordance with established Care Services programs, polices and procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will support and work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Care Service Manager in the provision of quality resident care. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will communicate effectively with residents, families and staff. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will administer medications in accordance within the scope of practice, established procedures, legislative standards and as directed by the Registered Nurse and/or the Care Service Manager. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide service that is responsive to the holistic needs of the residents and promotes choice while maintaining dignity and facilitating independence.

The ideal candidate will have an active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta; as well as a valid Medication Administration certificate. Minimum two (2) years Licensed Practical Nurse experience in a long term care setting or related field. CPR certification is required. Ability to work in a team environment. Able to work effectively in a physically & mentally demanding environment. Excellent observation, communication & problem solving skills. Dementia experience also an asset.
