RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure resident care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, as well as, observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
• Assist in assessing residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate resident care plans. Monitor residents’ health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physicians’ orders.
• Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit. Orient and train new personnel and may participate in in-service education. Monitor performance and conduct performance appraisal and refers problems to the Director of Care.
• Assist in preparing the Facility for RAI MDS.
• Take charge of the Facility in the absence of the Director of Care.
• Staff replacement in the absence of the care clerk.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares food and nourishments including evening meal following standardized recipes and production sheets. Provides for prescribed diets, including variations in texture. Ensures meals are served on time, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• In the absence of the Dietary Manger, decides on menu changes as necessary and ensures that changes are recorded following department procedures.
• Monitors quality and quantity of food supplies ordered, proper operation of kitchen equipment and alerts Manager of problems. Recommends corrective action.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities at meal times; assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager, including staff replacements and service calls for malfunctioning equipment.
• Maintains all required records such as menu changes, delivery receipts, temperature checks; cooperates with other departments to meet resident needs.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignment from Manager.
• Using specified cleaning/ disinfecting/sanitizing agents, and following specific procedures, work patterns, and routines, performs tasks such as:
• Vacuuming, sweeping, dry/wet mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing/disinfecting floors; spot cleaning walls, windows and doors between washing; dusting, emptying wastebaskets and rearranging furniture; removing waste; daily cleaning and disinfecting all resident rooms; cleaning floors, fixtures and furnishings in rooms, kitchen, closets; garbage collection, removing and recycling; will also include heavy cleaning duties such as deep cleaning.
• Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, and safety.
• Cooperates with other departments in such tasks as moving and storing supplies, furniture and equipment.
• Participates in company meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.

Candidates are invited to apply for a part-time casual position of Cook to work at our Birchwood Terrace Home, a 96-bed long-term care facility, located in Kenora, Ontario.

Reporting to the Dietary Manager, follows established policies, procedures and standards, prepares and serves food for the residents, including the more complex meal preparation for the facility (dinner, sauces, desserts etc.), cleans production area and equipment.

Reporting to the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide assists with food preparation and serving of meals. Cleans eating, cooking, storage, and serving areas, as well as equipment. Follows established policies, procedures and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observes time limits for meal serving. Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits. Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes.
• Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assembles nourishment carts. Stocks unit kitchenettes.
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
