POSITION SUMMARY

Villa Charities Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Grants Manager who will work with our team to identify impactful granting opportunities, manage relationships with grantees, and develop a solid pipeline of grant applications for the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, Cultural Programming, the Grants Manager will work collaboratively with all the departments to research, develop, and manage projects in areas such as culture and citizenship, infrastructure, community outreach, and capacity building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the grant cycle for all grants, including: identifying prospective grantees and working with them to develop proposals; developing grant agreements; managing grantee relationships, including payments, progress reports, and learning and evaluation
  • Develop appropriate systems and streamlined processes to help ensure quality and timeliness of all aspects of the organization’s grant applications, including the implementation of a grants management system With guidance from the Senior Executive Team, conduct research related to the  Organization’s granting areas to maintain our deep knowledge and understanding of the landscape of work in these areas
  • Support the Senior Executive Team in finding new opportunities for engagement and partnerships
  • Work with the Senior Executive Team to organize events and meetings with community members, government, organizations, political leaders, and others
  • Develop communications related to our granting for internal and external purposes
  • Develop learning and impact evaluation framework for the Organization, and help to implement it

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Post-secondary degree, including quantitative skills
  • 5 years’ work experience, with demonstrable expertise that contributes to aspects of the Grants Manager role
  • Expertise in culture, community outreach, and not for profit – considered a strong asset
  • Proven interest in multiculturalism, social inclusion and cultural programming including higher education
  • Strong coordination, organization, planning, and administrative skills with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of donation management best practice including CRA guidelines
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong team player and relationship builder who can foster collaboration
  • Ability to give and take constructive feedback
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respect tight deadlines and work extended hours, as needed
  • Ability to speak Italian will be an asset
  • Experience working for a charity/non-profit organization considered an asset
