The Activity Assistant shall assist in providing a comprehensive activation program. The Activity Assistant shall be responsible for segments of the overall programming that focuses primarily on areas which are rehabilitative in nature and includes physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects.
Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services or Equivalent Education and Experience

What do you need to qualify?
Registered member in good standing with regulatory college
Baccalaureate in Nursing or equivalent would be an asset.
Minimum of three years of working experience in a nursing role
Ability to work flexible hours (some evenings and weekends are required).
Demonstrated ability to develop leaders, mentor their growth and ensure development is ongoing.
Standard First Aid Certification (maintained and renewed every three years).
Current HCP/CPR and A.E.D. certification (maintained and renewed annually).
Hold professional membership and professional liability protection insurance.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Willingness to travel overnight (approximately 3-4 times per year).
Valid G2 or G License and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel (frequent) and provincial travel (a few times per year).
Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety practices, principles and legislation.
Compliance with infectious disease screening as per provincial legislation and maintaining immunizations; must meet Home Concierge’s expectation to get annual influenza vaccine.

The Cook prepares and dishes the food as outlined on the menu, utilizing the standardized recipes. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the food is prepared in proper manner and presented to the residents in a palatable and appetizing appearance.

Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the FSM including but not limited to: menu changes as necessary (ensuring these changes follow departmental procedures), staff replacements, purchase and receive food and supplies and place service calls for malfunctioning equipment, following departmental procedures
Monitor the quality of food supplies and proper operation of kitchen equipment, and informs FSM of any issues and recommendations concerning corrective actions
Maintain required records in the absence of the FSM, e.g. Menu changes, purchase orders, delivery receipts, temperature checks.

You will welcome and assess the interests of new Residents to encourage their participation in activities in the Retirement Community.
You will create a monthly calendar of events with resident input and will log and track resident participation and adjust the calendar accordingly.
You will recruit and supervise volunteers and mentor team members of the Activity Department team.
